Title sponsors secured for two Nascar Cup Series races

Two top-tier Nascar Cup Series races have secured title sponsorship deals ahead of the 2018 season.

Firekeepers Casino Hotel has extended its agreement with Michigan International Speedway to remain the title sponsor of the circuit’s stock car race in June, meaning the event will continue to be known as the FireKeepers Casino 400, prolonging a partnership which first began in 2014.

“The FireKeepers Casino 400 is one of the region's top sporting events and we are proud and excited to extend our title sponsorship with Michigan International Speedway,” said Kathy George, chief executive of Firekeepers Casino Hotel. “The roar of the crowd and dramatic finishes will continue to draw tens of thousands of fans to our region and expand the brand awareness of the award-winning FireKeepers Casino Hotel.”

“We are excited to continue our partnership with FireKeepers Casino Hotel,” added Rick Brenner, president of Michigan International Speedway. “It is important to have partners like FireKeepers Casino who share the same philosophies. We are looking forward to working together to provide our guests an awesome experience each June for many years to come.”

Meanwhile, Go Bowling has been announced as the title sponsor of this season’s Nascar Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International. The Go Bowling at The Glen will headline a tripleheader weekend in August, when the racetrack will also host the second-tier Nascar Xfinity Series and the Nascar K&N Pro East Series.

“We are thrilled to welcome Go Bowling to the Watkins Glen International family with the entitlement agreement,” said Michael Printup, president of Watkins Glen International. “Having grown up outside of Buffalo, I know just how popular bowling is around our state. While I've never quite bowled a 300, our team has done just that with this partnership.”

The financial terms of both agreements have not been released, but based on similar deals in Nascar, the title sponsorship for each race is likely to be worth around US$1 million.

The opening race of the 2018 Nascar Cup Series season takes place at the Daytona International Speedway on 11th February.
