Tissot signs up in time for 2013 RBS Six Nations
Swiss watch brand Tissot has become the official timekeeper of the RBS Six Nations Championship international rugby union tournament.
The new three-year partnership, which kicks in at this year’s edition, will see Tissot provide live on-screen match timing graphics to Six Nations broadcast partners at each fixture.
In addition, all referees will use a Tissot T-Touch Expert timepiece and Tissot will present a countdown clock on the official RBS Six Nations website, which will build up to the first match between 2012 winners Wales and Ireland in Cardiff on 2nd February.
Tissot, which previously sponsored the 2004 and 2005 editions of the event, replaces British brand Graham London, which had held the timekeeping role since 2009.
John Feehan, chief executive of the RBS 6 Nations, said: “We are delighted to welcome back Tissot as our official timekeeper. We greatly valued our relationship with Tissot when they were our timing partner back in 2004 and 2005 and it is great to have them back again within our very select family of championship sponsors.
“Their passion for sport in general and for rugby in particular has impressed us greatly and we look forward to another very productive and successful partnership with them.”
Tissot president Francois Thiébaud added: “Tissot is very proud to, once again, be the official timekeeper of the RBS Six Nations Championship, the greatest annual rugby championship in the world.”
News of the deal comes on the back of last week’s announcement that the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) had extended its title sponsorship of the event for a further four years.
