Surfing: World Surf League Holdings, the parent company behind the World Surf League (WSL), has acquired the Kelly Slater Wave Company, an artificial wave creation firm. The WSL has said that no off-shore competitions are to be expected, despite the purchase of the company owned by former 11-time WSL champion Kelly Slater.
Athletics: Dutch-based AA Drink is to become the official sports drink supplier of the Amsterdam 2016 European Athletics Championships. The brand’s soft drinks will be available to all athletes during the championships, and branding will appear around all event venues.
Rugby: National Rugby League (NRL) side South Sydney Rabbitohs have announced a short-term partnership with P&O Cruises. As the holiday firm prepares to base its first ship in Cairns, it will sponsor the Rabbitohs away game against North Queensland Cowboys at the Cairns-based Barlow Park.
Olympics: Nutritional supplement company Herbalife has signed on as an official partner of four separate Olympic associations ahead of the Rio Games this summer. Herbalife will sponsor the Costa Rican, Israeli, Italian, and Vietnamese Olympic Committees.
Golf: KitchenAid, the current presenting partner of the Senior PGA Tour, has renewed its deal for a further eight years. The kitchen appliance supplier will extend its partnership with the Tour until 2024, taking it into its 14th year.
Motorsport: B’laster Corporation, a motor lubricant manufacturer, and entertainment technology company Technicolor have signed on as associate sponsors of Andretti Autosport driver Alexander Rossi for the Indy 500.
Also in motorsport: Roush Fenway Racing has extended its partnership with the Fastenal Company, continuing the company’s position as a key partner of the number 17 Nascar Sprint Cup series team and their driver Rickey Stenhouse Jr.
MotoGP: Automotive small parts manufacturer Berner has renewed its partnership with motorcycling’s Gresini Racing, who currently sit seventh in the 2016 MotoGP team standings. The partnership began 13 years ago, and has been renewed for multiple years.
More Motorsport: K&N Engineering has signed a multi-year extension with the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) that will see the firm continue its title sponsorship of the K&N Horsepower Challenge, an annual, US$50,000 winner’s purse race.
