Tencent Sports, the sports arm of Chinese investment holding company Tencent, has secured a new three-year partnership with the United States Tennis Association (USTA), the governing body for tennis in the US.
The deal sees the online sports platform become the exclusive Chinese digital media partner of the US Open Grand Slam tennis tournament until the end of the 2019 event.
The partnership begins with this year’s edition of the hard court competition and Tencent will provide its subscribers with exclusive live streaming of all matches across Tencent Sports, Tencent Video app, Tencent News app, and the QQ and WeChat social networking services.
Tencent will also produce video highlights and additional interactive content as part of its offering. The agreement sees the company add to its extensive tennis rights portfolio, which already includes the French Open and Wimbledon Championships Grand Slams.
The 2017 US Open got underway at Flushing Meadows in New York City, USA on Monday, and is scheduled to conclude on 10th September.
