Teleclub has reached an agreement with Discovery Networks Deutschland to secure exclusive broadcast rights in Switzerland and Liechtenstein for the 2017/18 Bundesliga.
The Swiss pay-TV broadcaster will sub-license the rights to games from German soccer’s top flight via Discovery-owned Eurosport, featuring all 40 live games included in the pan-European sports network’s rights package for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The deal includes coverage of the season-opening German Supercup, the league’s four relegation play-off fixtures and highlights from all matches.
Willy Heinzelmann, the chief executive of CT Cinetrade and Teleclub, stated: “With these exclusive rights, we are now able to round out our Bundesliga offer. We are excited to continue our collaboration with Discovery in this expanded form.”
Susanne Aigner-Drews, the senior vice president and general manager for Discovery Networks Deutschland, added: “With the Bundesliga we acquired one of the top sports rights in the German-speaking TV market, and we want to guarantee the best and most extensive distribution of these highly charged games, delivering premium sports content to more people across more screens than ever before. This long-term extension of our partnership with Teleclub enables us to present high-class Bundesliga action to Swiss viewers.”
The 2017/18 Bundesliga will kick off on 18th August, and the fixtures for the new season are scheduled to be announced on 29th June.
