Surfing stars Sally Fitzgibbons (pictured) and Alana Blanchard have signed personal endorsement deals with Samsung and Rip Curl respectively.
Australian Fitzgibbons, 23, becomes a brand ambassador for Samsung Electronics Australia and will make public appearances on behalf of the company.
The partnership follows Samsung’s recent global agreement to title sponsor the 2014 ASP World Championship Tour, surfing’s elite circuit for men and women, under its Galaxy smartphone brand.
“Surfing is synonymous with Australia and Samsung is proud to support one of the sport’s most talented athletes in this country,” said Arno Lenior, the chief marketing officer at Samsung Electronics Australia. “Not only is Sally a gifted surfer, she’s also a great match for our brand.”
Meanwhile Hawaiian-born Alana Blanchard, who also competes on the ASP Women’s World Championship Tour, has extended her contract with Rip Curl for a multi-year period.
The 24-year-old has had ties with the famous surfing brand since she was 14 and currently lends her name to a signature line of bikinis.
"I'm so excited to be renewing with my long time partner Rip Curl. They're like family to me,” Blanchard said.
