The Premier League has announced an expansive new broadcast agreement with African sports network SuperSport.

Under terms of the agreement, financial details of which remain undisclosed, SuperSport has been awarded the live audio visual broadcast rights for all Premier League games played throughout the 2013/14 to 2015/16 seasons across the territories of South Africa, Nigeria, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The new agreement follows the May 2012 announcement that saw Modern Times Group acquire future broadcast rights to the soccer league in Scandinavia and marks the second overseas rights package that the Premier League has sold for its latest television cycle.

The Premier League's previous three-year TV cycle, which covered 2010 to 2013, saw the league accumulate roughly UK£1.4 billion in rights payments made by overseas broadcasters.

"We have worked with SuperSport for a number of years and are extremely pleased to extend our partnership," said Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore. "They will continue to deliver a premium offering that will showcase the Barclays Premier League to our many fans in South Africa, Nigeria, and Sub-Saharan Africa."

SuperSport chief executive Happy Ntshingila added, "The Barclays Premier League has been a mainstay of SuperSports’s offering for many years and we are delighted to have once again extended the partnership."
