Bottled water brand Strathmore has become a partner of the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships in the British city of Birmingham.
The AG Barr-owned Scottish company will be the national supplier of bottled water for the event. Strathmore had previously fulfilled the same role at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and most recently at the IAAF World Championships London 2017.
It will supply more than 60,000 bottles of water to the competing athletes, officials and volunteers at the event, which will be held at the Arena Birmingham from 1st to 4th March. The deal was brokered and contracted by The Sports Consultancy, which is working with the Birmingham 2018 local organising committee to secure national partners and national suppliers.
“We are delighted to have teamed up with Strathmore as the supplier of bottled water,” said Joan Durose, director of the IAAF World Indoor Championships 2018. “It is vital for the world class athletes competing at the championships and for all those working hard behind the scenes to deliver a successful event, to have easy access to water to stay hydrated throughout this major sports event.”
Adrian Troy, marketing director at AG Barr, added: “The IAAF World Championships in London was a phenomenal event to be a part of and we’re delighted to be able to strengthen our relationship with the IAAF by becoming the national water supplier of the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham.
“Our commitment to hydrate the world’s best athletes, volunteers and thousands of passionate spectators aligns with the IAAF’s values and ambition to deliver another highly successful event. It is also another fantastic opportunity to grow Strathmore’s profile and strengthen its position as the water of world class athletics.”
