Swiss public-service broadcaster SRG SSR has acquired the rights to Uefa club soccer competitions for the three-year period between 2018 and 2021.
The deal sees SRG SSR extend its long-running coverage of the Europa League and Champions League. It will continue to air live match coverage and highlights packages on its free-to-air channels until the conclusion of the 2020/21 European soccer season.
The broadcaster will show one live Champions League fixture a week on a Wednesday night, with pay-TV operator Teleclub having already secured the rights to exclusive live coverage on Tuesdays. Teleclub will also offer alternative fixtures from the Champions League on Wednesdays and from the Europa League on Thursdays.
Spanish giants Real Madrid claimed their second consecutive Champions League in the 2016/17 season, while England's Manchester United won the Europa League, becoming the first non-Spanish side to win a European trophy since Bayern Munich in 2013.
