Sportsfix, a recently launched over-the-top (OTT) service in south-east Asia, has secured the live rights to Italian soccer's Serie A for the remainder of its 2017/2018 season.
The deal with Serie A’s current global media rights holder, MP & Silva, will see Sportsfix become the exclusive streaming partner of Italy’s top flight in Malaysia. The online platform will provide its subscribers with three live matches per week, starting with this weekend’s round of fixtures.
The financial terms of the one-year agreement have not been made public.
“This is a significant step for us and shows our ambitions as a platform,” said Marcus Luer, executive chairman of Sportsfix. “It’s a terrific league with big teams, fans and traditions. We are excited to bring Italian football back to the Malaysian fans.”
Sportsfix’s growing list of soccer content offerings include South Korea's K League Classic, the Chinese Super League (CSL), the Toyota Thai Premier League and Liga 1 Indonesia.
Serie A is distributed in 211 territories across the globe.
