Spor Toto reclaims title sponsorship of Turkey’s Süper Lig

Spor Toto has been announced as the title sponsor of Turkish soccer’s top-tier Süper Lig.

The deal, which was agreed between the state-owned betting provider and Turkish pay-TV group Digiturk, the league’s rights holder, covers the remainder of the 2017/18 season and the 2018/19 campaign. The agreement also extends to the First League, the second tier of Turkish soccer.

Spor Toto previously served as the Süper Lig’s title sponsor between 2010 and the end of last season. The financial terms of the new agreement have not been released, although German industry outlet Sponsors.de reports that the previous contract was worth an annual US$25 million.  

Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, chair of the board of directors for Spor Toto, said: “We are very pleased to be sponsoring the name of the Süper Lig, which is the most popular sports organisation in our country in terms of audience size.”

Yousef Al-Obaidly, chief executive of Digiturk, added: “We are very pleased with this business partnership that will increase the brand value of Turkish football and I hope that the deal will be good for both sides.”
