Spain’s La Liga, Liga Endesa, Liga Asobal and Liga Nacional de Fútbol Sala (LNFS) have joined forces to create the Association of Spanish Professional Leagues.
The European country’s soccer, basketball, handball and futsal league bodies will work together for the promotion, dissemination and defence of the nation’s professional sports movement.
Javier Lozano, who is president of the LNFS, has been appointed president of the private non-profit entity, while Ricard Hijós - secretary general of handball’s Liga Asobal - will join as vice president.
The association will also collaborate with public sports institutions, the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and other Spanish sports federations, along with any other public or private entity linked to the world of sports both nationally and internationally. Additionally, the body will coordinate and safeguard the common interests of its members, while promoting initiatives of support, study, advice and mutual assistance.
Members of the Association of Spanish Professional Leagues’ general assembly and board of directors are due to be announced at a later date.
