Sporting goods company Spalding has extended its partnership with the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) Division I men’s and women’s basketball championships for a further four years.
The American equipment brand will continue to be the official supplier of backstop, backboard and goal equipment for the collegiate leagues. The partnership also includes the use of Spalding’s basketballs at all NCAA basketball games, as well as the licensing rights to utilise the NCAA brand logo on Spalding basketball systems products sold at retail locations.
The financial terms of the deal, which runs until 2021, have not been revealed.
“As a company, basketball is in our DNA and as such has always been at the core of what we do, with a keen emphasis on the growth of the game and commitment to innovation,” said Paul Sullivan, Spalding’s senior vice president. “As such, our partnership with the NCAA, which serves as a pathway to today’s greatest student-athletes, is one we value greatly. We look forward to providing the country’s elite basketball talent with equipment that enables them to play to their highest level and honours our mutual love of the game.”
