Top-flight English soccer side Southampton have entered into a two-year commercial agreement with Utilita.
The Hampshire-based company will become Southampton’s new official energy and utilities partner. Utilita will have a strong brand presence at the Premier League club’s home ground, the St Mary's Stadium.
The two parties will offer bespoke benefits to the club’s fans, as well as Utilita’s customers and staff. Saints fans who switch to Utilita will receive exclusive offers throughout the 2017/18 season, such as a free smart meter. They will also be given exclusive access to festival and music tickets through Utilita’s partnership with entertainment promoter Live Nation.
"We are now a rising national brand - but our roots are very much in Hampshire,” said Jem Maidment, head of marketing and communications at Utilita. “We believe in the power of football and the positive effect it has on communities.”
David Thomas, Southampton’s commercial director, added: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Utilita on board as an official partner and we look forward to working closely with them on some exciting projects in the coming seasons.
“Like us, they are a fine example of a Hampshire success story and are a community-focused organisation. We believe the values they share with us will make this a partnership that can benefit the club, our fans, Utilita and also the wider area.”
Southampton began their 2017/18 Premier League season with a home fixture against Swansea on 12th August. Despite the absence of club captain Virgil van Dijk, who has handed in a transfer request, the Saints drew 0-0 with the Welsh outfit. The match was the club’s first competitive fixture under new manager Mauricio Pellegrino.
