Hyundai Motors has secured the position of co-title sponsor of Singaporean soccer’s S. League in a two-year deal.
The car manufacturer will share the lead sponsorship of the league with insurance firm Great Eastern Holdings.
The competition, Singapore’s only professional sports league, will now be known as the Great Eastern-Hyundai S. League.
Khor Hock Seng, Great Eastern Holdings chief executive, said: “As the longest-standing sponsor of the S.League, we welcome corporations like Hyundai in coming forward to join us to support local football. This augurs well for the development of the sport as a whole.”
Albirex Niigata, the reigning champions, will play the first match of the 2017 season on Sunday, as they take on Tampines Rovers in the Great Eastern Community Shield at the Singapore Sports Hub.
