RHB Bank Singapore has renewed its commercial partnership with the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) for a further three years.
The financial services provider will be the title sponsor of the Singapore Cup, the city-state’s 12 team knock-out soccer competition. RHB is the longest-running title sponsor of the tournament, first coming on board 12 years ago.
According to local outlet The NewPaper, the renewal is worth SG$1.5 million (US$1.06 million) over the duration of the contract.
"Our aim is to bring up the interest of football in the country, and to build the younger generation in Singapore by getting them interested in football and leading a healthy lifestyle," said Mike Chan, chief executive of RHB Singapore, after the press conference for the RHB Singapore Cup 2017 preliminary round draw at the Ocean Financial Centre.
"Football is a very important sport in this country so we think it is a space we can associate our brand with."
This year's RHB Singapore Cup features eight S. League teams and four foreign teams from the Philippines and Cambodia.
