ShopRite renews LPGA tournament sponsorship for five years

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has extended its tournament title sponsorship deal with Wakefern Food Corp., the marketing and distribution arm of supermarket chain ShopRite.

The five-year renewal will see ShopRite continue as the title sponsor of the ShopRite LPGA Classic, an annual tour stop in New Jersey, until 2023.

ShopRite has been the lead backer of the tournament, which is owned and operated by Eiger Marketing Group, since 1992. Prior to then, the event was known as the Atlantic City Classic.

“We’re thrilled that the ShopRite LPGA Classic has been extended through 2023,” said LPGA commissioner Mike Whan.

“Over the past 25-plus years, ShopRite has become family to the LPGA and Atlantic City feels like home. We are excited that our partnership with Wakefern will allow this tradition to continue for many years to come.”

This year’s ShopRite LPGA Classic begins at the Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club on Friday. Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist (pictured) is the defending champion.
