Second-tier English soccer side Sheffield Wednesday have agreed a new partnership with Ladbrokes.
As the Championship outfit’s in-stadium betting partner, the bookmaker will be responsible for providing betting services at the team’s Hillsborough Stadium during every matchday.
The company will also benefit from extensive brand exposure on the club’s official website and social media channels to support betting activity prior to games, in addition to a package of matchday advertising opportunities, including on pitchside LED bands and in the matchday programme.
The announcement comes shortly after Ladbrokes signed a similar deal with Wednesday’s cross-city rivals Sheffield United.
Joe Palmer, chief operating officer of Sheffield Wednesday, said: “Ladbrokes is of the UK’s longest-standing betting companies and a hugely recognisable high street brand. We are delighted to embark on this partnership together as it’s a reflection of where Wednesday is heading as a brand itself. We believe they will contribute greatly to our in-stadia betting experience for our fans and look forward to working together.”
Jessica Bridge, head of PR for Ladbrokes, added: “We are very excited at Ladbrokes to be forming this dynamic partnership with Sheffield Wednesday Football Club as they embark on their mission to be promoted to the Premier League. It promises to be an exciting season ahead for the club and we would like to wish the manager, the players and all the fans the very best of luck.”
Despite being one of the favourites to secure promotion to the Premier League, Sheffield Wednesday started the new Championship season with a 1-0 defeat at Preston North End. The Owls will be hoping for a better result from their first home game of the campaign against Queens Park Rangers on 12th August.
