SendtoNews has acquired the digital rights for the National Hockey League’s (NHL) short-form digital content for the 2016-17 season.
The American distributor will offer its American news publishing partners access to NHL game highlights, interviews, top plays and other video content.
The financial terms of the one-year deal were not released.
“SendtoNews now has the most comprehensive inventory of digital sports video content in the world,” said Matthew Watson, chairman of SendtoNews. “We are pleased to now offer highly popular NHL content as an extension of our portfolio, which already includes exclusive rights to MLB, Nascar and PGA Tour and co-exclusive rights to NBA and 70 other leagues.
“Through this new rights deal, hockey fans throughout the US will have additional access to NHL content via their preferred online newspapers and the NHL will have increased exposure to a large, nationwide audience of new potential fans.”
The NHL's 2016-17 regular season began on 12th October and will run until 9th April.
