SBS secures rights to Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Australia

SBS has picked up the rights to top-flight English soccer side Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Australia.

The Premier League club is scheduled to play two exhibition matches in the city of Sydney, and both games will be shown live by the Australian public broadcaster.

The Gunners will take on top-tier A-League champions Sydney FC on 13th July, before facing the Western Sydney Warriors two days later. Both fixtures will take place at the ANZ Stadium.

Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League in 2016/17, marking the first time that the team have failed to qualify for the Uefa Champions League under manager Arsène Wenger. The London-based club announced on Wednesday the record signing of French striker Alexandre Lacazette, who could make his competitive debut in the season-opening FA Community Shield against Chelsea on 6th August.
