Top-flight Brazilian soccer side Santos have announced a new two-year partnership with Umbro.
The English sportswear brand will serve as the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A outfit’s official kit supplier in 2018 and 2019, taking over from Kappa when the Italian manufacturer’s contract with the club expires at the beginning of next year.
Umbro previously served as the team’s technical sponsor for 14 years between 1997 and 2011, a period in which the club won ten trophies. The financial terms of the new agreement were not disclosed.
Modesto Roma Júnior, president of Santos, said: “We had four proposals for the material for 2018 and 2019. We received, analysed and evaluated these four proposals. We take into account values, material, acceptance of the target audience, who is our supporter, and the way we work in recent years, and we have chosen to realign a long partnership with Umbro.”
Santos are third in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A behind local rivals Palmeiras and league leaders Corinthians. They travel to play São Paulo in the San-São derby on 28th October.
