The National Football League’s (NFL) San Francisco 49ers have announced a new multi-year partnership with Idemia.
The company will implement identity and security services using its IdentoGO solution and will equip the California-based franchise’s Levi’s Stadium with biometric-based technology in order to assist in fan experience and security.
IdentoGO will offer 49ers fans the opportunity to register for expedited security screening under the TSA Pre✓ programme. The club will also use the collaboration to test options to streamline fan entrance into their home ground, enhance the fan experience inside the stadium, and look at the implementation of biometrics at point of sale.
Brent Schoeb, vice president of corporate partnerships for the 49ers, said: “Being located in Silicon Valley mandated that our organisation have a close relationship with pioneering technology companies and Idemia certainly delivers on that characterisation.
“The launch of their TSA Precheck enrolment for 49ers fans who visit Levi’s Stadium is just the beginning of our work with them as we work to further enhance the guest experience at Levi’s Stadium.”
Jim Mercurio, vice president of stadium operations for the 49ers and Levi’s Stadium general manager, said: “We’re always looking for innovative ways to enhance security at Levi’s Stadium and Idemia’s IdentoGO technology complements our efforts as we strive to provide expedited entry for pre-approved customers.
“We look forward to working with Idemia to jointly deploy the first-ever Trusted Fan Programme which we plan on implementing in stages. We are excited about the possibilities they bring toward enhancing the fan experience at Levi’s Stadium.”
Didier Lamouche, chief executive of Idemia, added: “At Idemia, we make it our mission to protect people and places with innovative and convenient solutions so that security doesn't get in the way of enjoying free time. This is what we are doing for millions of Americans already using the TSA Pre✓ programme to travel safely.
“We are very excited to partner with such a progressive sports organisation in technology to bring 49ers fans TSA Precheck and outfit Levi’s Stadium with cutting-edge biometric solutions to help them better serve their fans.”
The 49ers are bottom of the NFL’s NFC West division and are without a win from their opening seven games of the season. They play their next fixture away to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
