Rum deal for West Indian summer tour
Cockspur Rum will be an official sponsor of the West Indies cricket team for their upcoming tour of England after Whyte & Mackay, the drinks giant that distributes the brand for West Indies Rum Distillery, signed a deal with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
As part of the brand's campaign, Cockspur will instigate promotional activity at all the grounds on the tour, which begins on 2nd May, and will introduce an on-pack promotion which will give consumers the chance to win a trip to the home of Cockspur in Barbados.
Philip McTeer, Cockspur head of brand UK, said: "Cockspur has built up great brand awareness amongst cricket fans over the years and is continuing this strong association through its involvement with the West Indies cricket tour.
"We’re proud to be an authentic rum from the West Indies island of Barbados and look forward to getting behind the Windies team this summer."
Ernest Hilaire, chief executive of the WICB, commented: "As we start our overseas campaign this year the WICB is delighted that locally produced rum Cockspur will be joining us on what we hope will be a successful tour. We look forward to a fruitful and continued partnership with Cockspur."
