Rugby World Cup confirms additional sponsor

Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL) has confirmed that the Japanese multinational conglomerate Toshiba has signed on as an official sponsor of the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

Under terms of the new sponsorship, the global electronic giant providing a range of market-leading products including televisions, notebook PCs and digital multi-function services to the seventh edition of the international rugby union tournament.

Financial details of the agreement were not revealed, however, the new deal is estimated to be worth US$4 million.

RWCL chairman, Bernard Lapasset, said, "Rugby World Cup Limited is delighted to announce that Toshiba has joined the impressive list of sponsors for Rugby World Cup 2011. The reappointment of a world leader in the electronics field further underlines the enormous attraction and prestige of the Tournament in the global sporting calendar.

The 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand will take place from 9th September through to the 23rd October.
