Ronda Rousey and Pantene cut deal

Global haircare company Pantene and MMA star Ronda Rousey have entered into a new partnership.

Rousey joins Selena Gomez and Gisele Bundchen as a global ambassador for the brand.

As part of the agreement, Pantene has launched an advertising campaign featuring Rousey, which looks to promote the message ‘strong is beautiful’. The campaign plays on the brand’s 80s tagline – ‘Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful’, updating it to ‘Don’t hate me because I’m strong’.

"I'm fully aware that I might not be the first person people think of to collaborate with a beauty brand,” said Rousey. "I've been called 'Miss Man' and 'savage' because of my physique, but to me, strength isn't only about having muscles. It's about having heart and finding inner confidence, so I'm honoured that Pantene asked me to be part of their new campaign that encourages women to break gender barriers, break the glass ceiling and never settle."

The Pantene deal is the latest in a string of endorsements for Rousey, who has also recently appeared in advertising campaigns for sportswear brand Reebok and fast-food chain Carl’s Jr.

She returns to the octagon against Amanda Nunes on 30th December, having not competed in UFC since she lost her bantamweight title to Holly Holm in November 2015.
