Report: Samsung scores Mumbai Indians shirt sponsor deal

Samsung has agreed a partnership with the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Mumbai Indians, according to media in India.

Indian sports business news outlet InsideSport reports that the technology company will be a jersey sponsor of the cricket team.

InsideSport sources say that the long-term agreement is worth US$3.8 million per year.

The new deal would see Samsung replace Indian pay-TV broadcaster Videocon d2h, which has been a shirt sponsor of the Mumbai Indians for five years.

The 2017 IPL champions, Mumbai Indians have been the most successful IPL team to date, having won the league final in 2013, 2015 and 2017. They also won the 2011 and 2013 editions of the Champions League Twenty20, a now-defunct competition featuring domestic teams from a number of leading cricket nations.

The 2018 IPL season is due to get underway on 7th April.
