BeIN Sports has retained the broadcast rights in France to Spanish soccer’s top-tier La Liga, according to French media reports.
French news outlet L’Equipe reports that the Qatar-based pay-TV broadcaster has agreed a new three-year deal for the flagship property which will be valid until the end of the 2020/21 season.
BeIN are believed to have offered an average of €30 million (US$36.7 million) per season, which represents a 15 per cent increase on the current agreement.
The news comes after La Liga issued a bid deadline for its European rights tender process last Monday. BeIN replaced French pay-TV broadcaster Canal Plus as the rights holder in France for La Liga in 2012.
