The Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) has announced a major new partnership with French carmaker Renault.
The automotive company becomes an official sponsor of Italy's national rugby union team and will sponsor the side throughout their ongoing RBS 6 Nations campaign, which got underway at the weekend with a 7-33 home defeat against Wales.
The exact duration of the partnership was not announced, nor was the value of the deal.
Renault will receive significant branding during the national side's home matches, and will also run promotions for Italian rugby fans, offering tickets for the upcoming clash against to three winners.
"The team spirit, work ethic and passion for their work are all characteristic features of our movement and of our approach to the organization and the practice of rugby in Italy," said Alfredo Gavazzi, president of the FIR.
"These are the same values that drive Renault, one of the leading car manufacturers in Europe and in the world.We are happy to tie ourselves to a partner who has so much in common with the way we play our sport."
