Australian sports apparel company Rebel has renewed its deal to title sponsor the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), ahead of the third edition of the Twenty20 cricket tournament.
The agreement will run for three years, covering the 2018/19 to 2020/21 seasons, and all league branding will continue to feature Rebel’s logo. The retailer has served as title sponsor of the WBBL since its inaugural 2015/16 season and is the official online retail store of tournament organiser Cricket Australia (CA).
In addition, Rebel will sponsor the Young Gun Award, which rewards the young player of the tournament with a AU$5,000 (US$3,760) prize and career development programme that was won Sydney Sixers star Ashleigh Gardner in WBBL|02.
In the close season the CA appointed Kim McConnie as the new head of the men’s Big Bash League (BBL) and the WBBL, with a focus on growing the WBBL and continuing innovation in the shortest format of the game.
The 2017/18 WBBL season runs from 9th December to 4th February 2018. Sydney Sixers are the defending champions.
