Community development firm AVJennings has struck a deal to become a major partner of Australian netball side the Queensland Firebirds for the next three years.
AVJennings will work with the Firebirds to promote active living around the Queensland area and in all of its own developments across Australia. As part of the deal, Firebirds star and current captain of the Australian national netball team Laura Geitz will join AVJennings as a brand ambassador until the end of 2019.
The deal will come into effect in time for the inaugural season of the Suncorp Super Netball league, the replacement competition for the now-defunct ANZ Championship. The Firebirds, with three titles, were the most successful team in the latter competition's history.
“We’re excited to be joining the netball community by supporting the popular Queensland Firebirds,” Peter Summers, chief executive of AVJennings, said. “We believe community matters which is why, along with creating places people want to belong to and grow with, we are committed to supporting communities and community organisations in which our Firebirds sponsorship will form an important component.”
The Firebirds join the Australian Football League's (AFL) St Kilda and Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) side the Melbourne Boomers in partnering with AVJennings.
