Betway has extended its sponsorship of the Cheltenham Festival’s Queen Mother Champion Chase for a further three years.
The online bookmaker will continue to be the title sponsor of the Grade One two-mile steeplechase up to and including the 2020 renewal, a role that it has assumed since 2015.
The 2017 Queen Mother Champion Chase had a prize pot of UK£350,000 (US$452,000), with the winning owners – David Young and Sally Rowley-Williams – taking home UK£199,325 (257,000).
"After a fantastic three years of sponsoring the Queen Mother Champion Chase, we are delighted to extend our support and see the great race run under the Betway name for at least the next three Festivals,” said Anthony Werkman, marketing and operations director at Betway. “The Festival is where everyone wants to be and we are excited to remain in the thick of it, not least sponsoring one of the feature races of the four-day meeting.
"Winning the Queen Mother Champion Chase is the pinnacle for any two-mile chaser and, with our continued sponsorship, we hope to cement our place at Jump racing's top table."
At the 2017 Cheltenham Festival, the championship two-mile chase won by Henry de Bromhead’s Irish raider Special Tiara.
