Tyre giant Pirelli has renewed as the title sponsor of the Pirelli World Challenge sports car series.
The deal will see the company put its name to the North American-based championship for an eighth consecutive year, while it will also supply its range of P Zero tyres to all World Challenge teams. The news was announced ahead of defending champion Lawson Aschenbach's wins in the weekend's season-opening meeting on the streets of St Petersburg, Florida.
"Our renewal with Pirelli World Challenge demonstrates Pirelli's commitment to elevating motorsports in North America, as right now Pirelli World Challenge has the most diverse GT racing grid in the country - from Chevrolet, Ferrari, Porsche, Bentley and Volkswagen to Hyundai and Ford, ” said Rafael Navarro, chief marketing officer for Pirelli Tire North America.
Pirelli World Challenge chief executive Greg Gill added: "We're thrilled to have Pirelli renew its partnership with Pirelli World Challenge, as we have seen their tires provide exceptional performance for this racing series and all the teams over eight years, a true credit to Pirelli's global motorsports heritage and more importantly, their ability to provide safe, high performing tires for diverse manufacturers and North American race conditions."
