Pioneer DJ has been confirmed as the latest official sponsor of Saturday’s boxing match between undefeated former multi-weight world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Conor McGregor.
The Pioneer Corporation brand will present live DJ performances in between all bouts on the event’s fight card, and its branding will prominently feature in both non-fight corners during each showdown.
Both Mayweather and McGregor have announced a host of personal sponsorship deals in the build-up to the much-hyped fight. The 40-year-old American recently confirmed that luxury watchmaker Hublot will be the front-top waist sponsor of his shorts, and also became a brand ambassador of alcoholic beverage Tequila Avión. The 29-year-old Irishman, meanwhile, renewed his agreement with Monster Energy and signed a new 18-month personal endorsement deal with Betsafe.
The light-middleweight bout is expected by some to accumulate the highest ever pay-per-view revenue for a boxing clash, and is being sold at varying prices across the globe. American fight fans, for example, will have to pay US$89.95 to watch the 12-round contest, while MTG has set pay-per-view fees in excess of US$60 in each of Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, and the UK’s Sky Sports Box Office is charging US$26.35 for the non-title match-up.
The fight, which will be McGregor’s first and Mayweather’s 50th professional boxing bout, is taking place at the 20,000-capacity T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on 26th August.
