Owen Farrell scores Investec deal

Banking and asset management group Investec has announced England rugby union player Owen Farrell as its new brand ambassador.

Farrell, who also plays for English rugby union Premiership side Saracens, will promote Investec for three years.

Further details of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Investec is a title sponsor of the two major rugby union competitions in the southern hemisphere - the Super Rugby club competition and the Rugby Championship, which is contested by Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The company is also a principal partner of the Investec International Rugby Academy, which works to develop South African rugby talent.

“We’re excited to announce our partnership with Owen Farrell,” said Chris Meyer, head of corporate and institutional banking at Investec. “Investec’s ambassadors reflect values we champion in our business: distinctive performance, the highest standards of integrity and team spirit. Each one of these is embodied in Owen’s ethos. His winning mindset, determination and humility are attributes that we admire and are proud to align with.”

“Investec is highly respected in its markets and has a strong track record in sports sponsorship, so I’m delighted to become a brand ambassador for corporate and institutional banking,” added Farrell. “Their high standards are aligned with my own and I look forward to building a long-term and productive partnership with them.”

Owen Farrell will serve as vice captain when England kick off their title defence of European rugby union’s Six Nations tournament on 4th February 2018.
