OSN acquires last-minute Sochi rights
Dubai-based pay-television network OSN has acquired the rights for the 2014 winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
The agreement was struck with the Arab States Broadcast Union (ASBU), a consortium of broadcasters that in 2009 acquired the rights for the 2014 and 2016 Olympic Games in 20 countries across the Middle East and North Africa.
The network will deliver its coverage of the Games across the Middle East and North Africa via its OSN Sports 1 HD, OSN Sports 2 HD, OSN Sports 3 and OSN Sports 4 channels. The television broadcasts will be supported online by the OSN Play service.
Andy Warkman, the vice president of sports and production at OSN, said: “OSN was the official broadcast partner of the London 2012 Olympics and the Paralympic games and we are extremely proud to be bringing unprecedented coverage of the Sochi 2014 winter Olympics to every OSN home in the Middle East and North Africa.”
Early preliminary competition in slopestyle and figure skating was taking place in Sochi on Thursday, ahead of the opening ceremony for the winter Games on Friday evening.blog comments powered by Disqus
