Optus has signed an agreement with the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) to title sponsor the multi-sport event’s aquatic centre.
The Australian telecommunications company’s new deal expands on its existing partnership with GOLDOC, which sees Optus serve as the official support network of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The firm is providing the event’s communications infrastructure and managed services, including the permanent upgrade of 4G internet services around the Optus Aquatic Centre.
Optus will also be boosting the network coverage during the Commonwealth Games by deploying two portable ‘Cells on Wheels’ at the aquatic centre.
The company recently announced its AUS$30 million network investment programme for Gold Coast 2018, which includes 411 infrastructure projects which are set to be completed ahead of the event’s opening ceremony and aim to enhance Optus’ mobile network experience during the Games.
The 2018 Commonwealth Games are due to get underway on 4th April on Australia’s Gold Coast.
