ONE Championship to debut in Japan and South Korea

Asian mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion ONE Championship has unveiled an expanded calendar for 2018, featuring 24 events including debut rounds in Japan and South Korea.

The Singapore-based promotion’s 2017 calendar featured just 18 events but this will be increased next year, accommodating the new South Korean and Japanese legs scheduled for unspecified dates in July and September in Seoul and Tokyo respectively.

The 2018 series will begin in Jakarta, Indonesia on 20th January, and will include three trips to China’s Shanghai, three visits to the Thai capital of Bangkok and four fight cards in Manila, capital of the Philippines. The season will conclude in Bangkok on 22nd December.

“We are thrilled to announce our incredible 2018 calendar of events for ONE Championship,” said Chatri Sityodtong, chief executive of ONE Championship. “We have 24 massive shows planned for all sports fans in Asia and will continue to showcase the absolute best in martial arts, delivered by our homegrown martial arts superheroes. 2018 is going to be an epic year of action and I can’t wait to get things started.”
