ONE Championship claims global first with new OTT app launch

ONE Championship

ONE Championship, the Singapore-based mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion, has announced the launch of its new mobile over-the-top (OTT) app.

The ONE Super App, which will be available globally on both Android and iOS devices, will stream live coverage of every ONE Championship event for free. The platform will also give users access to the series’ complete library of digital content, as well as statistical information and a detailed background of each fighter.

The announcement was made in Singapore on Monday ahead of ONE: Unstoppable Dreams, which sees local favourite Angela Lee take on Japan’s Mei Yamaguchi at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday. The event, which also features Lee's younger brother Christian, will be the first to be streamed on the new app.

Speaking at the announcement, ONE Championship chief executive Chatri Sityodtong claimed it was the first time a sports property had launched an app giving fans around the world access to all of its events for free.

“On Friday, we are one with Singapore in celebrating the beauty of martial arts as we have prepared the very best match lineup for the delight of our Singaporean audience and the rest of the world,” said Sityodtong.

“This historic event will be seen around the globe as it will be aired by the biggest television networks across Asia and the world. It will also be available for free through the ONE Super App. Witnessing a great display of martial arts action is now at your fingertips.”

Meanwhile, ONE Championship has also announced a new partnership with Grab, a Singapore-based taxi app.
