Top-flight Australian rugby league side North Queensland Cowboys have signed a multi-year extension of their long-term major partnership with Trukai.
As the National Rugby League (NRL) team’s shorts sponsor, the renewal ensures that the Papa New Guinea-based rice producer’s logo will continue to adorn the back of all first team home and away shorts.
The agreement marks the continuation of a partnership which first began in 2008. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Greg Tonner, chief executive of the North Queensland Cowboys, said: “This renewed partnership will allow many great exchanges of community programs, ideas and wonderful opportunities to engage with the people of Papa New Guinea through the involvement of our players and player ambassadors. True partnerships are collaborative and the Trukai-Cowboys relationship, which now extends past a decade, is collaboration personified.”
Greg Worthington-Eyre, chief executive of Trukai, added: “We’ve been blessed to have been able to bring Cowboys legends Brent Tate and Matt Scott to Papa New Guinea for engagement visits and coaching clinics this year and we are very much looking forward to that continuing under this new partnership. The people of Papa New Guinea absolutely adore this team so, for us, this partnership makes perfect sense.”
The Cowboys are seventh in the NRL, and will be looking to consolidate their place in the season-ending finals series when they host the Brisbrane Broncos in their last game of the regular season on 31st August.
