Global apparel giant Nike has renewed its long-term deal as the official kit supplier of the Croatian national soccer team.
The Oregon-based sportswear manufacturer will continue to design, create and retail the team’s iconic checked matchday shirts in a ten-year deal signed with the Croatian Football Federation (HNS).
The partnership was originally signed in 1990, with the renewal taking the collaboration to 26 years in total.
“I am proud that Nike, the world’s leader, wanted to extend the HNS contract up to 2026,” said Croatian legend and HNS president Davor Šuker.
“This acknowledges the reputation of HNS and of our players worldwide. Nike has previously been an excellent partner in developing football in Croatia, and I am truly happy about this agreement on long-term cooperation.”
Croatia has been a hotbed of talent in recent years, with the likes of Ivan Rakitic, Mario Mandzukic and Luka Modric all starring in European soccer’s top leagues, with wonderkid Alen Halilovic set to join them. The national team made it to the round of 16 at this year’s Uefa Euro 2016, but fell to eventual champions Portugal after extra time.
