NHL’s Penguins strike TeamSnap partnership

The Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL) have signed a two-season sponsorship agreement with TeamSnap, a management app for recreational sports teams.

Under the deal, which covers the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons, TeamSnap will have online and offline branding around the Penguins’ various grassroots initiatives. These include the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite AAA Organisation and Penguins Hockey Development, which operates camps, clinics and skill development programmes throughout the Pittsburgh region.

TeamSnap, which claims to have nearly seven million users around the world, enables recreational and amateur sports clubs to schedule games, see player availability, track statistics and make payments.

“We’re honoured to partner with such a great team that’s so committed to the sport community,” said Ken McDonald, the vice president of customer acquisition at Boulder, Colorado-based TeamSnap.

“The Penguins’ focus on amateur hockey development is a big interest for us and is aligned with our goals of bringing the joys of participating in sports to everyone.”
