NFL stars endorse 50 Cent’s energy drink

Energy drink brand Street King (SK), founded by rapper Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, has signed National Football League (NFL) stars Wes Welker and Miles Austin as brand ambassadors.

Welker and Austin, wide receivers for the New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys respectively, become the first professional athletes to join SK’s roster of celebrity endorsers, which includes a number of television personalities and musicians.

The exact financial and durational terms of the NFL players’ deals were not released.

Wes Welker, who holds the Patriots’ record for total single-season receptions, said: “I am very careful about what I put into my body, and I love that SK Energy shots have none of the bad stuff in them and they really work. But most of all, I love that every energy shot sold provides a meal for a hungry child.  I’m excited to be a part of something so powerful.”

Austin added: “I love the mission of SK and I’m excited to be a part of the brand. I always need to be on my game and SK gives me energy to perform. And helping feed kids, that’s really the best part.”

The energy drink, which was developed in association with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), donates a meal to a child in Africa for every unit sold.

Chris Clarke, chief executive of SK Energy, said: “We made the decision very early on that our goal is to become the first company to provide a billion meals to children in need around the world. Every energy shot sold provides a meal to a hungry child through the United Nations World Food Programme.

“We wanted to build a company that everyone would be proud to work for – a company that had the power to do incredible things in the world,” Clarke added.
