US-based broadcaster NBC Sports has signed a landmark agreement with Cricket Australia that will see it air the KFC Big Bash League throughout America.
The agreement will see the Twenty20 league appear on NBC’s NBCSN digital platform, with ten fixtures including the semi-finals and final to be shown on delay.
Coverage will begin on 20th December when Sydney Thunder face off against Sydney Sixers, and comes as interest in cricket throughout the US increases.
“Cricket is one of the most-watched sports across the globe, and the Big Bash League features many of the world’s best players,” said NBC Sports president of programming Jon Miller.
“NBC Sports is excited to partner with Cricket Australia to showcase this world famous league and incredibly popular international sport.”
Ben Amarfio, executive general manager of media, communications and marketing at Cricket Australia, added: “The addition of NBCSN is a watershed moment for Australian cricket in the US, and is the first time Australian cricket will be available to such a broad mainstream audience.
The BBL final takes place on 29th January, with Sydney Thunder looking to defend their title following their debut win last year.
