The Washington Nationals Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise has announced a new partnership with sports analytics specialists Bloomberg Sports.
Bloomberg Sports will work with the 2012 National League Eastern Division champions to implement a new player evaluation system for the Nationals’ baseball operations department. The system combines a number of data sources on all of the team’s players with customised technology to assist the evaluation process.
"We have a need in our business today to manage data quickly and efficiently to make sure we are maximising the performance of all our assets on and off the field. No one can help us manage all that data more effectively than Bloomberg Sports,” said Mike Rizzo, the Nationals’ executive vice president of baseball operations and general manager.

Bill Squadron, the president of Bloomberg Sports, added: "This partnership with the Nats is our next step to help professional sports organisations use technology to enhance on-field performance, and we are very pleased to be able to build a system for Mike and his team which can help give them the best opportunity to continue to be highly successful for the long term.”
