Smithfield Foods is to expand its sponsorship of the Richard Petty Motorsports Nascar team and will be a primary sponsor at 25 Sprint Cup races in 2013.
The sponsorships will be split between Smithfield and three of its brands, Eckrich, Farmland and Gwaltney, and appear on driver Aric Almirola's car. The company began its relationship with the team last season.
Joe Luter IV, an executive vice president of Smithfield, which specialises in pork products, said: "We were very pleased with the value that the partnership provided us and our customers in our first year together.
"We are already working hard to make our race programme better this year."
Richard Petty, the Nascar legend who co-owns the team that bears his name, added: "The folks at Smithfield put some great programmes into place last season, and we can't wait to see what they have in store this year. Smithfield came on board at a pivotal time for our company and helped us develop to the team we are today."
Smithfield Packing branding will appear on Almirola's car at the season-opening Sprint Unlimited exhibition race and the Daytona 500, the first race of the Sprint Cup season, in February at Daytona International Speedway.
