Major League Soccer (MLS) has revealed the four broadcasters in the US and Canada that will show the inaugural Campeones Cup, a new one-off fixture between the MLS Cup winners and the champions of Mexico’s Liga MX.
Univision, ESPN, TSN and TVA Sports have all signed long-term deals to cover the competition, which was unveiled by the two top-tier leagues in March in an effort to ‘strengthen the sport in North America’.
The first edition of the Campeones Cup takes place on Wednesday between Toronto FC and Tigres AUNL at the Canadian outfit’s BMO Field. The game will be shown on Univision, UDN and ESPN2 in the US, while TSN and TVA Sports 2 will air the fixture in Canada.
The new collaboration brings together the three nations that formed the successful United 2026 bid for the Fifa World Cup, and part of the tie-up will see MLS and Liga MX work together on sharing best business practices and social responsibility efforts. The leagues have also committed to a future MLS All-Star Game that will feature players from both competitions.
