Mars Chocolate Australia has agreed a three-year deal to become the primary sponsor of Australian Twenty20 cricket team Melbourne Renegades.
The confectionery brand's logo will appear on the front of the Big Bash League side's playing, training and travelling shirts, as well as on replica apparel. No financial terms were released.
“We’re very pleased to have Mars join us for the three next years in what will be a period of ongoing growth for our club,” said Melbourne Renegades chief executive Stuart Coventry. "Mars is an iconic brand and has a history of engaging with Australians through sport whilst sharing a passion for getting the most out of life. This partnership is testament to the growth of our franchise and the strength of the league."
Andrew Loader, the general manager at Mars Chocolate Australia, added: "At Mars we a have proven track record of showing our support for great Aussie sports through sponsorship and development and our partnership with the Renegades is yet another example of that."
The Renegades have also signed gardening brand Nylex to a three-year deal in the co-major sponsor category, with its logo set to appear on the caps, helmets and trousers worn by the team during games. Nylex joins Carsales.com in the second tier of Renegades partners.
The 2016/17 Big Bash League season begins with the Sydney derby between the Thunder and the Sixers at Spotless Stadium on 20th December. The Melbourne Renegades will begin their own campaign against the Sydney Thunder two days later.
