Mediaset and Uefa confirm extension

Broadcaster Mediaset has secured a comprehensive package of rights including coverage of all live Uefa Champions League matches and the Uefa Super Cup in Italy. Live games will also be shown on Sky Italia and public broadcaster Rai.

Broadcaster Mediaset has secured a comprehensive package of rights including coverage of all live Uefa Champions League matches and the Uefa Super Cup in Italy.

Live games will also be shown on Sky Italia, while public broadcaster Rai will show the first choice live match on a Wednesday every matchweek free to air, as well as highlights programmes on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

"Uefa is extremely pleased to announce this deal with Mediaset who have been a highly-regarded partner of UEFA since the beginning of the UEFA Champions League,” said a statement from the European governing body.

Uefa general secretary David Taylor added: "Rai has been a valued partner of UEFA since 2006 and their offer for the next cycle of media rights will ensure great free-to-air exposure for the competition in Italy.

"Sky Italia has also proved to be an excellent partner for a number of years."
