Formula One team McLaren-Honda have agreed a one-year partnership with GREAT Britain, a UK government campaign designed to attract more global visitors, business, study and investment to the country.
The ‘Innovation is GREAT’ logo will feature prominently on the McLaren-Honda MCL32’s livery throughout the 2017 season in motorsport’s premier global series. The campaign previously collaborated with the Woking outfit at last year’s American and Mexican Grands Prix. The partnership will also include a series of activations at select races.
“I am delighted that McLaren, a pioneer of innovation, has partnered with the GREAT Britain campaign for 2017, to inspire and encourage more visitors, businesses and academics to the UK,” said Liam Fox, the UK government’s international trade secretary. “McLaren is a good example of a cutting-edge technology company drawing upon the UK’s technology expertise to attract the best world class talent and bring audiences from across the globe to major sporting events.”
Mohammed Bin Essa Al Khalifa, executive committee principal at McLaren Technology Group, added: “We’re delighted to be collaborating with the GREAT Britain campaign over the course of the 2017 season to encourage the world to visit, do business with, invest and study in the UK.”
Neither of McLaren-Honda’s drivers - Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne - finished the opening race of the 2017 season in Melbourne, Australia. However, they will be hoping for an improved performance at the upcoming race at China’s Shanghai International Circuit on 9th April.
