MMA star Conor McGregor has renewed his personal sponsorship deal with Monster Energy ahead of his much-hyped showdown with boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The Irishman, a Monster endorser since 2015, will continue to sport the energy drink brand’s logo on his shorts during his upcoming fights, including his bout with Mayweather on 26th August at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Financial terms and the duration of the deal have not been disclosed.
“After two years as a Monster Energy UFC fighter, we are excited to continue our partnership with Conor McGregor as he prepares for the biggest fight in history,” said Marianne Radley, Monster’s senior vice president of marketing.
“His bold confidence, determination and aggression are synonymous with our brand values and we are proud to have him represent our company.”
To promote the renewal of the partnership, Monster and McGregor, 29, have shot a new 30-second video commercial that will be distributed on TV and across digital platforms.
As well as McGregor, the current UFC lightweight champion, Monster’s endorser roster includes other top MMA fighters such as Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier and Cain Velasquez.
McGregor, who recently ranked fourth in SportsPro's annual list of the world's 50 most marketable athletes, also counts Reebok, Bud Light and Beats By Dre among his personal sponsors.
